Campbell County Courts
Thanks for visiting our page! Your Campbell County Courts are honored to serve you and to keep you posted on Court happenings from Jacksboro to Jellico, and everywhere in between.
Despite the Coronavirus pandemic, the Campbell County Courts remain open to assist you and your family with your legal needs.
Although all Courts in Tennessee are currently under orders from the state Supreme Court to abide by procedures which limit the number of persons allowed in the courtrooms at this time, your local courts have created this page to help you understand your options for getting legal needs met even while you may not be physically present in a traditional courtroom.
Your Campbell County Courts are committed to KEEPING COURTS OPEN WHILE KEEPING YOU SAFE. Therefore, please help us help you, by taking the following general steps BEFORE you come to Court:
If you or a household member is sick or have been advised to quarantine, don't come.
Take your temperature at home before you come. If it's 99.5 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, don't come.
Instead, if you have an upcoming court date, call ahead; if possible, call BEFORE your court date. If you don't yet have a court date but you need to file something such as any type of emergency petition or a Petition for an Order of Protection, helpful forms and information are available at the Clerk's Office (423-562-2624) or by clicking the "Forms and Helpful Info" tab on this website. If you already have an upcoming court date, the first call you should make is to your lawyer. The Public Defender's number is (423) 563-9701. If you are a victim or witness, call the District Attorneys' Office at (423) 562-4991. If you don’t have a lawyer, the Clerk’s Office may be able to assist you by calling (423) 562-2624, or simply click on the "Contact" page of this website and complete the requested information. Many cases under the current conditions can be handled over the phone and you may not have to personally come to the courthouse at all. However, if you do have to come, ...
If you have a nose-and-mouth-covering mask, please wear it if you come to the courthouse. The Tennessee Supreme Court is currently requiring all persons (with certain limited exceptions) to wear a nose-and-mouth-covering mask when personally appearing in any courthouse in the State on court business.
Also, if you have a cell phone, smartphone, tablet, computer, or laptop that has internet access, then not only can you appear in court electronically, but you are ENCOURAGED to do so if you have a court date in the coming months. To do this, before your court date, call your lawyer (or, if you don’t have one, the Clerk) and provide the person you contact with your name, your cell number, your email address (if you have one), and the name of the case you’re calling about. Let them know you’d like to participate electronically instead of coming to Court in person. Remember, during the next few months, this is encouraged.
WARNING: If you are a defendant in a criminal case, then you are legally required to keep ALL of your court appearances, whether appearing electronically or otherwise; therefore, if you fail to appear either electronically or in person for your upcoming court date, a warrant will issue for your arrest. If you are a defendant in a criminal case, then you alone are responsible for both knowing and keeping all of your future court dates. Please contact your lawyer (or the clerk if you don't yet have a lawyer), the bonding company, and/or your probation officer if you are a criminal defendant who has a question about when your court date is.
After exhausting the measures described above, if appearing electronically is not possible and your physical presence in court is required, then please keep in mind that masks are required and physical distancing procedures in and around the courthouse must be maintained and will be strictly enforced at all times.

Thank you, and we look forward to serving you.
